Taj Mahal means Crown Palace.Agra is the home of the Taj Mahal, India's most famous monument and one of the Seven Wonders of the world, it dates back to 1630 AD.
It's actually a tomb that contains the body of Mumtaz Mahal - the wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He had it built as an ode to his love for her. It's made of marble, took 22 years and 20,000 workers to complete. She was his third wife and died giving birth to their 14th child.

ReplyDeleteOur visit is to be at sunrise, when the walls change colour. Hopefully it will be a clear day and we get lovely photos, regardless, this is the highlight of the whole trip for me.
