Ear grasping, touching head and feet

One distinct custom of India is grasping your own ear. This signifies repentance, honesty, or sincerity. Children or servants will do this when they are scolded.
However, stay away from the head. According to Indian customs, the head is the most sacred part of the human body and nobody can touch it. So if you accidently touch another person's head, apologize immediately to avoid any conflict. If you don't apologize, the person may turn you into a "Slumdog" without the "Millionaire." Yes, this rule also applies to children as well.
The only exception to this rule is elder. For time to time, elders touch the head of younger people either as blessing or as a way of showing they care. So, if you feel that you are old enough, then by all means have fun touching people's head.
The rule is vice versa when we are talking about Indian customs pertaining to the feet. Feet are considered to be the most disgusting and lowest part of a person's body. With that in mind, never use your feet for anything other than walking, which includes use of the feet for pointing, putting your feet on the table, and so on. If you accidently touch an elder with your feet, please apologize before people saying something about it. Accidents may happen, but this way you can save your face.  Source : Culture 4 travel.    Click on this: Indian Culture
